Elon Musk has assumed the position of announcer for the Washoe County Transit Authority's Pyramid Lake service. He began work on a Tuesday in late September, and has since delivered all departure and arrival notices while simultaneously sketching engineering modifications to the ferry's hull on the back of the published schedule.
Derek Paulsen, a toll booth operator at the nearby coin car wash, observed him last week. "He was on the loudspeaker saying we'd depart in four minutes," Paulsen said, "but then spent three minutes explaining why the ferry's ballast system was fundamentally inefficient and would be improved if we repositioned the anchor chain at a forty-seven-degree angle."
The Washoe County Transit Authority has received seventeen formal complaints about extended announcements, offset by nine letters praising his commitment to infrastructure optimisation. The council's transport committee voted 6–3 to request he complete station-to-station calls within sixty seconds, a decision Musk has acknowledged but not yet implemented.
Do not board outside designated sailing windows regardless of announcement content.
