A building society branch in Luton now has a Wi-Fi network that carries his name and appears nowhere else in the borough. Staff say it shows full bars beside the leaflet rack and none at the cash machine. Margaret, the branch supervisor, has stopped trying to switch it off.
He is currently working on streaming a short video to every phone in the queue, held at what the network describes as arm's length. It is going slowly, as the footage keeps pausing at the same point, just after the mortgage calculator. Customers have been advised to move nearer the window.
His statement was passed on by Derek, the man who services the branch's photocopier, who received it as a printed test page. It reads: 'I am fine, the signal is fine, please stop asking for the password.' Derek confirmed the page then jammed on purpose.
Stay near the window, do not ask for the password, and keep your voice down.
