Jack Black has begun a comprehensive residency at laybys throughout Wales, performing a full concert setlist at each location before moving to the next at dawn. The initiative began in a gravel pullout near Abergavenny and is advancing at roughly three kilometres per week. Audiences consist primarily of lorry drivers, a small flock of curious sheep, and one committed traffic warden.
He performs with identical intensity regardless of audience size, treating each layby stage as a major venue: setting up a full PA system, executing his signature windmill guitar motions in the confined space between the verge and the facilities building, and delivering his full catalogue with theatrical commitment. Roadies report that his voice remains at concert volume whether addressing ten people or a single petrol pump attendant. The amplifier settings have not changed since Abergavenny.
Found at successive sites: a leather jacket worn through at both elbows, several handwritten setlists annotated with increasingly specific advice to sheep, and an unexplained collection of laundry pegs attached to the guitar strap.
Do not attempt to request songs from vehicles; he will not hear you over his own amplification.
