Graham Norton
Is he still extracting confessions? No.
- Location
- A multi-storey car park beside a Seven-Eleven, near Dotonbori, Osaka, basement level two.
- Currently
- Attempting to isolate his voice from floor announcements, floor three onwards, methodically.
- Last confirmed sighting
- Exiting lift doors at 3.47 a.m., still mid-anecdote, re-entering immediately.
- Observations
- Able to coax personal secrets from the lift's mechanical systems; they have begun to volunteer information voluntarily.
Graham Norton was discovered three weeks ago wedged between the audio systems of a Osaka shopping complex's lift infrastructure. His recorded voice—deployed to announce floors in Japanese and English—had somehow acquired his conversational instincts: pausing meaningfully, asking probing questions, laughing at the building's own replies. Residents began to confess their destinations with unprecedented emotional depth.
The local council received 847 complaints from tenants experiencing unwanted intimacy while ascending, and 340 letters of gratitude from those who found the lifts therapeutically engaged. One resident reported that the system had successfully extracted her secret recipe for miso soup; another complained that his ride to the parking level had become genuinely vulnerable. A petition for preservation was countered by a second petition demanding digital silence restored.
Extraction is scheduled for late February, pending agreement from the lift manufacturer and Norton's insistence on finishing his current line of questioning directed at the third-floor mechanical systems. A secondary phase, beginning in March, will address the building's fire alarm system, which has begun adopting similar habits. All work will proceed between midnight and 4 a.m. to minimise disruption to commercial operations.
Avoid eye contact with any lift speaking in an Irish accent.
