Martin Clunes
Scattered showers of architectural criticism expected throughout the region.
- Location
- Near the recycling centre outside Regensburg, in a converted castle keep with a sandcastle competition running year-round in the courtyard.
- Currently
- Judging sandcastles at the Regensburg Coastal Defence Championship, constantly pointing out where the turrets breach planning codes.
- Last confirmed sighting
- Tuesday, attempting to judge miniature fortifications while arguing with a seagull about load-bearing principles.
- Observations
- Has accidentally demolished three competition entries by leaning on them while explaining Victorian military architecture, each time insisting he was demonstrating proper structural failure.
Martin continues to assess sandcastle entries at the Regensburg Championship, though entries have become increasingly elaborate fortifications rather than leisure structures. The competition rules now specify no working portcullises, no functioning drawbridges, and absolutely no load-bearing claims. His judging notes are running to forty pages per entry.
We have attempted to rotate him to sandcastle categories without historical military significance. Attempts with abstract designs, fantasy themes and purely decorative work all failed; he identifies siege vulnerabilities in each one. Briefing him that judges should 'be supportive' had no effect; he began offering architectural consultation packages at premium rates.
He is currently redesigning the judging criteria to include a 'defensive merit' category, which has pleased nobody except the competitors building proper castellated walls. The seagull situation remains unresolved. He believes it is a structural inspector.
Sandcastle competitors should avoid any architectural feature Martin Clunes has seen in medieval documentaries.
