"I Am Not the Lift," Says Lift, Speaking on Behalf of Dancer Who Is Briefly the Lift
- Location
- Fourth floor, department store lift beside the Citywest Hotel car park, Dublin
- Currently
- Reclaiming his own rhythm from a lift, floor by floor
- Last confirmed sighting
- Between floors two and three, tapping, on a Thursday lunchtime
- Observations
- Can tap-dance the entire stairwell of a multistorey without his arms noticing.
The floor announcements in a department store lift have begun to arrive as rapid heel-and-toe taps. "Ground floor" is now a flurry of seven clicks, and "Doors closing" is a short shuffle with a sharp finish. Michael Flatley has confirmed he is fine and is trying to get his feet back.
Mr Flatley will tour the lift's six floors, beginning with Menswear on Monday and ending with Homewares on Saturday. Two matinee performances of Lord of the Dance are scheduled for the lift's service shaft, with the arms kept straight at his sides throughout. A final date in Lingerie is subject to the doors.
"I sell scarves on the second floor and I've ridden that lift for eleven years," said Janet, a scarf assistant. "Last Tuesday it told me Level Three in a proper Feet of Flames flourish, then did a little spin. Nobody complained, but a man with a pushchair did applaud."
Please stand clear of the doors and keep your arms by your sides.
