Jonathan Ross has taken a post as test-drive passenger at a caravan dealership outside Borehamwood. Every drive now becomes a chat show, with the salesman moved to the guest seat and the handbrake treated as a sofa. Customers wait on the forecourt for a turn.
"I was just meant to demonstrate the fold-out table," said Brenda, a forecourt cashier. "He asked me about my weekend, then my whole career, then went 'Wow!' at the kettle. He also pronounced the word 'wheels' so many times we lost count."
People keep asking whether he can leave the caravan. He can, but only after a final handshake with each guest. They ask whether the comics in the glovebox are his. They are, and nobody is allowed to touch the manga.
Do not mention a good story near the passenger seat unless you have an hour.
