Dolly Parton has taken a post as night guide at a three-storey building in Tennessee that has never had a ghost. She leads groups of eleven through the corridors in a sequinned lantern-bearing gown. Visitors are told the cold spot is a radiator.
Upcoming dates include a Thursday walk through the boiler room at 8pm and a sold-out Saturday in the stationery cupboard. A Sunday matinee covers the stairwell, where the guide will write a song about it on the banister. Wigs are available for hire at the door.
Monday, 7pm: a flickering light turns out to be a rhinestone. Wednesday, 9:15pm: the lift hums the opening of 'Jolene' unprompted, and the group begs it to stop. Friday, 10pm: a vanishing draught is persuaded to work nine to five, with a tea break.
Do not ask the radiator to leave. It has been very clear.
