Claudia took a job as ball diver at a golf course lake in Hertfordshire, working weekday mornings in a black wetsuit and a polo neck worn over the top. Greenkeeper Janet says the fringe has not moved in the water once. Every ball is brought up in a dramatic hush.
Members keep asking whether the balls are being returned or banished, and the answer is that each is held up to the light, eyed for a long moment, and told 'you may go.' They also ask if she will say 'keep dancing' to the ducks. She will, and the ducks have started to waltz.
Retrieved so far: 412 golf balls, one cloak that was not there on Monday, and a small round table with four chairs set for a roundtable that nobody will admit to attending.
Do not tell her to keep dancing near water. She will, and so will the ducks.
