Producers have sent crews on Mondays and Wednesdays, both with a microphone and a flask, and found only a quiet room. A Tuesday-only sleepover was tried, but she was gone by morning, and the crew woke on a floor, apologising to nobody.

Her statement was passed on by a hotel receptionist called Brenda, who was handed it on a napkin. It reads: 'Oh my God, it's honestly fine. I just need to ask Wednesday a few questions, and I'll be back.'

Guidance for the public

If approached on a Tuesday, answer honestly and keep your sofa clear.
