Paul has been absorbed into the Thursday pub quiz at a back-garden gazebo in Cape Town and now appears only as the answer to question 14. Quizmaster Gillian reads the question aloud and he turns up, waving, on the word 'bass'. By the interval he has gone back into the clipboard.

He is currently working on making the answer more interesting than 'Paul McCartney'. He has tried it as a Hofner violin bass, then as a silent whistle, and a verse of 'Let It Be' that wanders in from the barbecue. Teams are reported to be scoring well and humming.

The local council has received 41 compliments, mostly about the singalong during the picture round, and 12 complaints that question 14 is too easy. One resident asks that he be moved to question 9 so the garden stays quiet during the raffle. The council has replied that he does not move, but he does say 'lovely'.
