Jimmy Carr
Councillor Pym moved that the item be taken as read, since nobody could bear to look at the speaker
- Location
- Between the ticket windows of a bus station in Mexico City, at the edge of anyone's glance
- Currently
- Delivering one-liners to the periphery of a waiting room
- Last confirmed sighting
- Mid-laugh, in the corner of someone's eye, Tuesday
- Observations
- Can be heard laughing at his own joke from three postcodes before he arrives.
Jimmy Carr now exists only while nobody looks directly at him. He remains in sharp suit and full voice, delivering one-liners from the edge of vision, and his laugh arrives a second before the joke. Staff at the bus station in Mexico City have stopped turning round.
On Monday at 9.10am he was seen beside a vending machine, and vanished when Lorena looked. By Wednesday at noon he had delivered fourteen jokes to a corner of the departures hall. On Friday at 6pm the laugh was heard in the ticket queue, and the queue laughed back at nothing.
Ushers tried staring steadily at his usual spot, which only silenced the laugh and left a suit on a hanger. Mirrors were tried, but he declines to appear in any he is facing. Sideways glances work, though audiences keep forgetting to hold them until the punchline.
Look slightly to the left of him and applaud at a respectful delay.
