Can out-banter a windmill from three postcodes away, and frequently does.

He has taken a job as groundskeeper at a crazy golf course and now maintains all eighteen holes with a blowtorch. Staff say the windmill has been fitted with repulsors, and the clown's mouth now answers back in a dry tone.

Monday, 7am: arrives, rebuilds the pirate ship as a small flying suit. Tuesday, 11:15am: the lighthouse hole gains a glowing blue ring in its centre. Thursday, 3pm: a shawarma is eaten on hole nine. Saturday, 6:30pm: the windmill salutes a family of four.

"I sell ice lollies from the hut, so I see everything," says Glenys, 58, kiosk assistant. "He fixed the dinosaur's tail with a gauntlet and told it, 'I am a greenkeeper.' Then he asked whether anyone wanted a hole-in-one. Nobody did, but it went in anyway."
