Rob Brydon has taken a job as an usher at a three-screen cinema in suburban Sydney. He greets each customer in the voice of a small man in a box, then shows them to their seat. The manager, Dennis, says the shift rota has never been so well attended.
Experts disagree about whether the Tom Jones voice is deliberate or simply what the torch does to him. One ushering scholar insists the Michael Caine voice only appears during adverts. A rival camp maintains the Welsh accent belongs to the carpet.
"I asked where the toilets were and he said 'Bryn's Welsh' and a woman in row F said it was the best answer she'd had all year," said Gail, a school canteen assistant. "He then gave me a refund for a ticket I hadn't bought."
Please remain seated and respond to any Welsh announcements in kind.
