Meryl Streep
Item 7: members noted that the resident has again appeared to the whole of Ward B in a different accent
- Location
- Inside the sleeping heads of Ambleside, Cumbria, near the Dancing Queen bus shelter
- Currently
- Doing a different accent for each sleeper, by request
- Last confirmed sighting
- Tuesday, 3.14am, a rooftop in the dreams of Ambleside
- Observations
- Can hear a Danish vowel being mispronounced from three postcodes away and sighs in the correct key.
Meryl Streep is now a recurring dream had by roughly four hundred residents of Ambleside, each of whom sees her at a different stage of an accent. She arrives around 3am, usually in a cardigan, and asks whether anyone has a spare vowel. She has been seen to leave at first light.
Residents have reported three things: a rooftop in the dream where everyone is singing Dancing Queen in a slightly Polish accent, a perfectly arched eyebrow above a bowl of porridge, and a whispered 'That's all' that ends the dream and sets off the alarm clock.
The council has received eleven compliments, mostly about the accents, and nine complaints, chiefly from people who woke up fluent in Danish and late for work. One resident asked whether she could do their mother-in-law, and the clerk has noted this for the next meeting.
Do not correct her vowels. Keep a notepad by the bed.
