The Princess of Wales is now a public footpath, roughly 400 metres long, running from a noodle stall on Soi 38 to a bus shelter. A stile stands at each end, both freshly painted a tasteful teal. Walkers have been told she is perfectly happy and would like them to wipe their feet.
Surveyors recorded a sapphire-blue waymarker set into the gravel at the halfway point, a small camera tripod left permanently at the second stile, and a patch of verge that curtseys slightly when a coat in a bold colour passes by.
The local council has received 62 compliments, mostly praising the gentle gradient and the way the path crouches to let children go first. There were also 9 complaints, chiefly from a man whose bicycle was greeted with a handshake and now will not be let through without an introduction.
Keep to the path, close both stiles behind you, and say good afternoon.
